I have just gotten back from a get together with q couple of quick associates and decided its time for a quick update. I am currently looking for a full time job. Becoming an ESL teacher has been postponed indefinitely for now. Don't have a clue about what my future holds. Thinking maybe something in the IT field maybe. My exercise regime continues I have gone down a lot of weight people are still astounded. Its all due to my gluten free diet ever since I found out I couldn't tolerate gluten. On that front my stomach and digestive system is slowly recovering. I have started to eat meat on a day to day basis.

My running was postponed for the past month and half due to the snow left over and ice all over. It felt good to be back on the pavement were am in the zone. I have decided to catch up on my reading. An associate of mine give me a big file of books that I have to start reading on my kindle. Anyone interested in my love life I have distanced myself from a good female friend who I started to have feelings for. In the mean time have been on and off seeing this girl I know from a way back. Relationship status would be its complicated.

In my spare time I have been trying to write a book its a long process. Also have been mediating when I can. Silencing ones thoughts and focusing is a hard thing to do. Also been walking around different parts of Queens and reminiscing about stuff that could have been.Well that's about it. Oh right before I forget won't be ranting as much if I find something interesting might give my two cents about it. I have kept my New Years resolutions and have mellowed out so I don't sound like a senior citizen. Take care my readers if your still out there reading this.

End of the Year Wrap Up!

To any of my readers out there or those who stumbled upon this blog welcome and here are my final thoughts for 2010 in no particular order.
1. Doctors are good but sometimes they can't help you because there diagnosis stinks. I have had stomach problems recently and have tried everything but nothing seemed to work. Finally I am starting a gluten free diet and so far so good.
2. If you live in NYC we got hit by snow about 20 inches or so. Many streets have still not been plowed especially side residential streets. There are reports that this is a result of sanitation workers who are losing pay, benefits and watching there fellow coworkers get fired.
3. The treat of socialism slowly grows in South America.
4. Wiki leaks has revealed startling revelations about world affairs. I am for the truth coming out as long as its not detrimental in the long run.
5. My contempt for people still remains the same. It will only lessen when humans accept that sometimes they do stupid things without considering how it affects those around them.
6. Facebook is a monster that will slowly start to crumble mark my written words. I am glad I got out before the shit hits the fan.
7. I want to wish everyone a Happy New Years and be safe well see what this blog brings next year.

Hiatus

The title says it all I will update less frequently or when I can. I haven't really done any pranks in awhile but was the recipient of one yesterday. Back in the day a bunch of friends used to get together and out of the blue we would blindfold someone in the group and drop them off in some part of the city with nothing on them except a metro-card. We would then see how long it would take for them to get back to a certain place in Queens. Getting dropped off in Bushwick Brooklyn and getting confused by the winding streets is a hassle. Lucky for me I was able to make it into Ridgewood and get on the bus and make my way back to Grand Ave in Maspeth. It only took me an hour and half not bad but not great.
Thinking about this reminded me about the time I participated in magazine spamming this associate of mine. You basically get a lot of subscription cards from magazines and then send them out and wait for the hilarity that ensues. Here's another thing you can do you get sardines in a can and you put them behind the rims of someones car. This is best done in springer or summer since that's when it smells the worst. Good times but as you get old you don't really get a chance to do as many. Oh well this has been a mini rant. Next update when I can.

Samhain

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! Yeah its that great time of the year when people dress up and play make believe. Its also the only time of the year when we generally want to be scared a little. Of course Halloween was originally a pagan holiday called Samhain. It traces its roots back to the Emerald Isles. Many people have varying opinions on Halloween. Many Christians feel that this day should not be celebrated because it has influences of dark occult practices. Others just see it as a day to dress up and get drunk. Whatever way you view it you can't deny the fact that its a great time to see wacky costumes and the effort that people have put into them. If any of you reading this live in NYC and can make it to Queens.I believe that there is still a Magic show that takes place in the Cemetery were Houdini was buried. Just finished downloading Fallout: New Vegas can't wait to kill some mutants and do some gambling. Also as of last week put in a deposit for a ESl training course. Been slowly studying the basics of grammar again. Figure that's something I can do for a bit. Fell of the wagon a couple of weeks ago and started drinking again. Started a self detox program yesterday. Anyways here's to Fall and Halloween being right around the cover. Till next time guys.

Who or What I am doesn't matter. I would like to expand on that. Basically we are taught that a person is either good or evil. Some like me try to walk a gray area. There are other alternatives that are available. In the game Dungeons and Dragons one creates a character with a certain alignment and from there immerses themselves in a game in which each action not only affects them but the other players as well. One option in life that we rarely consider is being lawful or chaotic.

Someone who is lawful tries to upheld themselves to the rules and regulations that have been set in place. A chaotic person on the other hand does anything that pleases them no matter the consequence. Take a look at a peacekeeper they try to protect us from harm but sometimes they become corrupt. If you have ever seen the movie Training Day the character played by Denzel Washington is basically chaotic and will kill if need be. Still he upholds some of the laws he has been sworn to protect in his own demented manner. In contrast look at the way Batman operates. He upholds the peace and justice in a different manner. He sometimes crosses the line just enough that it gets results. Killing is not an option for him. The lines are always blurred and sometimes we make that hard choice of what we choose to follow.

Whatever path you choose; remember that sometimes our past actions make us into who we are but we can still strive to be better. If your interested in seeing what type of alignment you are visit this site and take the test. Apparently my alignment falls under true neutral which fits my goals. Even the darkest or brightest soul always has a chance of redemption though sometimes were scared to pay the price. Really listen to the words of the video below there intense.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://verumoflupus.blogspot.com/2010/10/who-or-what-i-am-doesnt-matter-in-end-i.html' title='Who or What I am doesn't matter. you turned 16 and can now get a driver’s permit. Let’s say within 6 months must teens pass the exam and are off on the road. Skip a decade into the future and they have become like almost every other driver in the city. I don’t know why but must drivers in NYC are just freaking insane. One of the first things you learn is that pedestrians have the right of way. That is a big misconception that can get one killed if there not careful. When a driver is talking on a cell phone or even worse texting you’re better off walking the other way.

I rarely drive and when I do I try to follow the damn rules but it’s hard not because I don’t want to, but I have to be aware that the jackass behind me is in a rush somewhere. Hearing the honking of a horn is aggravating. No matter what you do it’s not going to make someone cross the intersection quicker or make traffic move. I will say that yes sometimes pedestrians jay walk when they shouldn’t. By my count I think I witnessed over 20 people just barely make it to the other side. While this probably doesn’t cause injuries I would add that blasting music with the car windows down is annoying especially at night as your trying to sleep.

What can be done about bad drivers nothing unfortunately. If a driver gets into an accident he or she claims that it was the other driver. If they have road rage they claim that the other person cut them off and tax dollars are wasted and they either get a light sentence and are back to driving pretty quickly. If I was in charge and you screwed up badly while driving. Cut off a leg for good measure and lets see you drive now buddy. Enjoy the weekend folks.

News in a flash!

Hello again to those who read this blog or stumbled upon it. Been busy with stuff so haven't been able to update. Here's a quick update. I am no longer going to Graduate School for the time being maybe in the future. I am doing some other stuff first and am getting signed up for this program that will hopefully lead to a different career options for awhile. As of 6:20ish this morning I was running and got my first swollen ankle. Sadly this means no running for the next two weeks. Secondly another of my associates who am in touch with on and off got married and is expecting his first kid in the summer. Congrats Dave we never thought you would take the plunge. I am brushing up on the English language specifically grammar and its usage for reasons which will become apparent in the near future. Before the summer started I had posted that I was becoming a Vegetarian as of now I am back to eating little amounts of meat for the protein. Need to find out still what's making me feel bad when I eat to much, hopefully I start getting some answers by the end of this month into the next one when I see a specialist. In less then a month my birthday is upon me.This means that I will no longer be celebrating it till the next milestone of 30 damn am getting old. If anyone's interested in reading a good book pick up The graveyard book by Neil Gaiman. Oh and new shows are starting up soon if you haven't been watching catch up on Fringe and 30 Rock. Enjoy the rest of your day guys and I will either continue my story or rant about something in the next posting which should be up soon.

What the F@$K is wrong with White People?

First of all the above picture has nothing to do with this post but I thought its true to a certain degree. All right were do I start, how about the fact that white people have no idea what life is like for Hispanic people. Damn how can you be on the 7 train coming back from the Mets game and feeling sorry for people who live in the surrounding neighborhoods. Comments like that piss me off and also it was crowded and this dude who was also a dad elbowed me twice in the head. I would have stepped up but was coming from class tired, and secondly there will come a day when Whites are outnumbered by Hispanics. Looking at what I wrote I sound racist or pissed off. Interestingly enough don't care cause I have stated before on this blog that I am both Hispanic and White so I know what its like to live in both worlds.

In news lets see whats been going on. Lindsey Lohan got out of rehab supposedly she was taking incorrect medication for a wrong diagnosis that was making her act erratic. Can you say someone got some money under the table to make this diagnosis so she got out. Tiger Woods is finally divorced and yeah he cheated but the guy always gets screwed out of a lot of money. If you wanna fool around don't get married guys or girls. The other big story is about the Mosque being built near Ground Zero in NYC. Here's my opinion you can build a mosque because we all have the right to express our religious freedom as long as it does not harm anyone else. It's to soon since wounds still have to heal and were still fighting a religious war in Afghanistan. Yes I said it because if you look back at history most wars have had religious undertones. Finally how many people are sick with Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin there really milking there 15 minutes in the spotlight.

Strolling down the streets of Queens looking for answers

Well everyone here's the next part of my story. To everyone who reads this or stumbled across it I may be updating less frequently in the future. I will be starting Grad school in two weeks so don't know how the workload will be yet. Finally I will probably go back to making social commentary on world events and such and I will make it up with this story from time to time.

Reminiscing about the past was no good Thomas thought. Heading to the kitchen and finding something in the fridge he plopped down on the coach again and booted up the laptop. Spilling some milk on the keyboard and hastily wiping it off with his shirt he noticed an email with a large attachment. Opening it and realizing that it was a video clip he waited while it finished loading. On screen the grainy clip showed two people inside grocery carts racing down a steep street. One of the carts tipped over as it reached the end and the clip became unwatchable for a few seconds as the camera moved down the street. It finally cleared and he realized that it was his friend Joe on the ground and as the camera panned to the other cart it showed him doing a victory dance. The clip ended with Mark another buddy of his laughing stupidly into the camera.
Thomas tried to remember the grocery cart race and why he would partake in it. Picking up his cell and calling Joe just led to voice-mail and after leaving a quick message he decided to go find Mark. Mark was a bit of an oddball but he should be working at the Diner. Looking for a clean shirt and a pair of socks Thomas quickly got dressed and left his apartment. Closing the door he noticed a garden gnome tipped on its side a few feet away.
Standing it upright he got a quick flash of running through some bushes while a dog barked behind him. Shaking his head for a second he looked at the gnome and decided to take it with him. Stepping outside and feeling the brisk morning air Thomas wondered if he should go back in and get a jacket. Contemplating this he hears the landlady arguing with her husband and decides to shove off before someone called the cops again. Stopping off at the newsstand Thomas picked up a copy of the conspiracy newspaper that Mark liked to read. He also got an odd-look from the owner while putting down the gnome as he payed for the paper. Walking down the street and looking at the way the industrial, residential and cemetery sections merged together he got to the diner in about 10 minutes.

Humid Thursday Afternoon

Writers block should have something up soon.

Strolling down the streets of Queens looking for answers

Here's the next installment of my story part one can be found below in previous post.

Throwing the phone aside and sitting down on the couch Thomas looks at the ticking clock. Thinking to himself Thomas remembers the first time he had met Monika. He had gone out one Friday night and ended up in some dive bar in Maspeth. After awhile of drinking watered down beer he had left and strolled around enjoying the cold air and the Christmas decorations on the houses. Stepping into a Polish Deli to warm up, he had noticed her. Blonds are a dime a dozen he thought but there was something about that smile that got to him.
Waiting till the last customer had left he had approached her and asked for a ham and cheese on Italian. Smiling at him she had told Thomas that they were out of Italian would Rye be all right. For a second he couldn’t get the words to form out of his mouth and said “Yes it’s all right”. Looking at her and noticing those grays eyes Thomas asked “Do you guys usually stay open this late?” She replied “Not often but around this time of the year we do, since our customers are getting ready for the Wigilia. What’s the Wigilia Thomas asked her. She looked at him and said it’s the Polish Christmas Eve dinner. Thomas said “Oh that makes sense”. Here’s your Sandwich that will be $4.50.Putting money on the counter he briefly glanced at her name tag and said it was nice talking to you Kasia. A delicate but charming laugh escaped her lips and she replied its Monika. Sorry about that Thomas said it’s just your name tag. Oh! Don’t feel bad am covering for a friend who got couldn’t make it, I couldn’t find my tag and took hers. Merry Christmas Thomas said to her and Monika gave him a wave as she picked up the ringing phone.

Strolling down the streets of Queens looking for answers.

Early morning sunshine throws a harsh light on a disheveled sleeping individual. The Smell of booze and vomit
causes Thomas to turn suddenly and fall hard on the floor. What the hell! Thomas thought as he struggled to free himself from his blanket. Throwing the blanket to the side his hand lands on a bottle of Smirnoff that had rolled out from under his bed. Picking up the bottle and looking around the room he struggles to make sense of a jumble of images from the night before. Shuffling to the bathroom and looking in the mirror he notices something on his back. Getting a better look he moans and realizes he got himself a tattoo. Not just any tattoo but one depicting a serpent coiled around an apple. Shit! Washing his face quickly and then trying to figure out if he should shave or not, he hears his cell phone ring.
Leaving the bathroom and almost tripping over his shoes, the ringing stops and Thomas starts looking for his phone. Finally he finds it in the cabinet above his kitchen and notices chocolate stains on the keypad. Wiping off the chocolate he notices that there’s a bunch of voicemails. “Hey T” Thanks for stopping by last night the most recent message says. “You’re a naughty boy" says the second and it takes a moment for him to realize it’s his ex Lauren's voice. Hmm haven't heard from her in awhile. Listening to the rest just bring up more questions on what he had done last night. Scrolling down the messages he realizes that Monika his current girlfriend, had left him a bunch of messages last night. Taking a break had not been his idea but it had its benefits, especially since he had some time to himself. Going through the first of her messages he realized that she’s really needy but then again what do you expect from someone who got left at the altar by her first boyfriend.

Untitled Poem?

My mind is not working right know, and I blame it on the heat. I still want to keep this blog going so what to do? Here's an idea what about every week or when I feel like it I try to post pieces of a story I come up with on the fly. To make it interesting to my readers you can also contribute to the story by emailing me at blakedudeus@yahoo.com. While I come up with an opening paragraph, setting and plot; this poem should keep some wondering, happy or pissed.

Darkness consumes the pain and the anguish I feel.
In the depths of this misery that overcomes me
the memory of a smile flashes and then is buried.
The smell of the rain reminds me of a road trip
taken in better days.As I shuffle through the crowded
streets I feel detached from humanity.A break in the
clouds occurs and a ray of sunshine hits my face.
Briefly the scent of perfume, and feelings of warmth
and belonging permeate my being. This euphoria lasts for
seconds and then rain hits my face. One teardrop mixes
with the rain and is washed away.

Happy Fourth of July and random ramblings!

Well in NYC it's a balmy and sunny late afternoon. Later tonight I will watch as various fireworks go off in different parts of my neighborhood. This week is going to be hell on earth literally. I recently got addicted to online gaming; specifically D&D Online. Yeah its not World of Warcraft but it lets me pursue quests and kill monsters. If anybody is interested in reading a good book this summer read Brazil. I am halfway through it on my kindle and its interesting look at the history of this country through a wide array of characters that doesn't make history seem dry.My running takes up every other morning and I have been losing weight and I have also become a vegetarian. I am not a pansy, but I really can't eat meat since it makes me sick and messes with my digestion. Girl wise I have decided to not let one of my friends younger sister get to attached to me. She's damn cute and fun but shes not a bad girl which am attracted to.

The world cup has been underway and my team Brazil is out of the running so am betting on Germany. Recently I got upset that the kindle I bought two months ago had a price drop. Then they announced a new Xbox 360 which had some good upgrades at half the price of what I got mine for a year ago. TV wise I haven't really been watching much. The only show am getting into at the moment is Futurama since its back on the air. Yesterday I saw AVATAR The Last Airbender at the theater. Big mistake worst movie I have seen in awhile the fight scenes were horrible. I made a fool of myself a few days ago when I got on a skateboard and realized that my teenage years are behind me. A aching back is still plaguing me but on the plus side that tumble to the ground made me remember some good memories that I had forgotten. That's it hopefully if my brain is functioning next week you will get a proper rant/rave.

You want to remake that ?

Originality is great when its found in movies, books or T.V shows. The funny thing is that there is always someone out there who is not happy with what is out there. This leads to remakes of any type of concept imaginable. Technology has gotten better since certain projects were first brought to life but sometimes that doesn't mean its going to be a great idea. I remember watching the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a young kid and it was a great film. A few years ago they remade it starring Johnny Depp, I have yet to see it so I can't say anything negative about his portrayal as Willy Wonka. Then of course we come to Spiderman which is already in process of being remade with the story taking another direction then the one that came out back in 2002. The big debate in that whole project is wither they should cast Peter Parker as a minority. It has been done with other characters and it seems to have worked out fine. I really don't mind who plays Spiderman, but what I do care is that are so many other characters in the marvel universe who are just as interesting and have a story to tell. This blog was meant to be longer but damn its to hot to write anymore. My last thought on this whole concept is this come 15 years from now will we see a whole other version of Harry Potter on the big screen or maybe the Twilight saga?

Perchance do you remember your dreams?

Dreams have fascinated people for a very long time. In ancient times in was believed that dreams were messages sent by deities. In modern times we believe that there a way for the subconscious to sort out anxieties or other problems that we cannot deal with when we're awake. Day dreams on the other hand are completely different and will not be examined in this blog. The average person has five or six dreams a night but usually remembers the one prior to waking up. Some people after a period of time can learn to manipulate their dreams to an extent.

I believe that dreams are so much more than what modern science can explain. In the book of Daniel in the bible, the protagonist of that scripture was able to interpret his dreams and save himself and eventually rise to power. Prophets in different religions have had dreams that may have been inspired by god.On the other hand they may have been tapping into some dimension that while not understood by science today was known to be accessible while you slept. Deja vu is experienced by many people and while they may not know how they have that familiarity of a person, place or thing. I suggest that this sensation is a result because of the dreams they had. In my own life I have often seen things that triggered memories of forgotten dreams that have depicted the events I just experienced. Some my laugh or mock me at this point but think back for a second to someone you know who has mentioned a similar experience.

The realm of dreams is esoteric in nature. We can never be sure what dreams are because they cannot be measured directly. Some day there may be a way to do so. Dreams are a part of us and while you may not adhere to what I belief they are, you can say that they offer a glimpse into the innermost working of you soul. If your interested in how dreams are portrayed in literature I suggest you pick up the series The Sandman by Neil Gaiman. As a bonus to my readers enjoy this poem about dreams.

Dreams are where you relive memories,
a special time gone forever.
Dreams can take you to far away places,
that are only there while you sleep.
Dreams can make you smile or make you cry,
but when you wake you must say goo-bye.
Dreamers can be what they want to be.
Dreamers are you and me.

Dreams are where you can see things,
that can no-longer be.
Dreams can take me to you,
no-matter where you are.
Dreams can make me smile or make me cry,
I never want to wake if I have to say good-bye.

Dreams can let me see you,
To touch you and hold you.
That's the only time I can be with you.
That's all I have left of you.
But I'll see you tonight in my dreams.

by Leslie D. This disaster is worse than the one that happened off the coast of Alaska back in 1989. I will not get into all the news on the current oil spill here because the link I provide will do a better job. Many people will reflect back on this and think about the ways that it could have been prevented. Well here's one stop using so much OIL. Honestly nothings gonna get done sure BP will pay fines and act like there all playing nice but they have deep pockets. I hate to say it but the only way this could be prevented is for a similar catastrophe to happen and it ends up directly affecting people. BP cant make the proper amends to all the fishermen and the lost profits that they will incur years from now. Damn even when the oil leak gets capped that whole area is still gonna take years to recover. Lets play the blame game and call former president Bush out on his dependency on OIL.Yes OIL which is one of the reason why we went over to the Middle East under the pretense of WMDS which have yet to be found. We have only begun a new decade but the way humanity acts will we be around much longer?

This has been a public service announcement. Y2K didn't happen and were not living in some post apocalyptic world. In that span of time we have experienced a technological boom. Cell phones are common nowadays but take a step back to 2001 when they were slowly starting to become mainstream. In high school I remember that it was a status symbol to actually have a cell. The most common model was the Nokia 3320 and the carrier was t-mobile. Look at the phones we have now the current model I have has a faster processor than my first computer. Just recently the latest model came out for Sprint which is the first phone to be able to use a 4G network and has a a nice camera as well. I can't forget to mention the Iphone or some people I know will get mad at me.

TVs and Radios were the only ways that we could get our media but with new sites and programs popping up every day online we can stream TV shows or download music in seconds. The forerunner to downloading music and other files was the popular Napster which is still around but not in the same form thanks a lot Lars. Many feel that illegally downloading programs is a crime. Personally I have mixed feelings about this. I have known people who have made a profit back in High School by burning play lists for people and selling them for 3 to 4 dollars. That's quite a difference compared to a CD that sells at Best Buy for 9 to 15 dollars. The same can be said of movies. Technology will continue to advance and become more compact in some cases as we start to go nano on some components. Yet you have to wonder will we become enslaved to technology because we relay on it to much.

P.S: No they call us crazy," Jobs said.
Here's a second link that I think was funny.

They fly in the night but do you believe they exist?

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy". This quote from Hamlet should always be in the back of our minds when living our daily lives. Look at your room right now and look at the various things that are there. They exist because you can see them and touch them. The strange or unexplainable does not follow this logic. Many people believe in Ghosts, Magic(Brujeria) and UFOs. In popular culture we are bombarded with shows and movies that deal with extraterrestrial entities and how humanity deals with them. Some of the facts presented are outlandish while others may have some fact in them. I just finished reading Alien Agenda by Jim Marrs which delves into the various facets of UFOs.

Alien aircraft crash landed in Roswell New Mexico on July 8, 1947. Is this statement true or not? I wasn't there but the evidence or lack of in part to the involvement of the U.S government at the time makes you wonder. Since that date there have been more sightings that cannot be explained by simply saying that it was a weather balloon or an experimental aircraft. I will not get to deep into this because there are countless books that do a better job of describing various UFO sightings and also dealing with cattle mutilations. We have entered a new era were technology can capture images instantly and they can be transmitted half way around the world before you finish taking a sip of water. If there is a global cover up its not likely to last much longer. Certain institutions like NASA have told former astronauts to keep quite on what they have seen up there and also blur the truth by discrediting images that show evidence of structures(not man made) on other planets. I am asking each of you after your done reading this to ask friends, family and coworkers if they believe there is more to our universe.

You really expect me not to stare!

Spring and summer are hands down peoples favorite times of the year. The winter coats are shed and its time to show whats underneath. In a urban jungle like NYC its hard to not see a beautiful girl go walking by showing off some skin. Yep you walk down the street and you see half the men walking by just staring that it almost seems creepy. Ladies I hear you complaining when am on the bus or train to your friend that all the attention your getting is not called for. Really! Come on you dress like that how is a guy not supposed to keep his eyes focused straight ahead.

Personally I have tried not to stare and you know what you ladies get offended that your not being looked at. You either scoot over or start rearranging with you got to get noticed. Some ladies shouldn't be showing off that much skin if they don't have the figure. Nobody wants to see a belly shirt which actually shows off a plump belly unless your a pregnant mom and that's a whole other issue. Keeping this sort of thinking in mind if your under the legal age (High School Girls) depending on where you live don't get on a bus and expect that you won't be noticed. Yes I have done it and I felt like a creepy old man but sometimes its hard to tell a girls real age. I really feel bad for guys in relationships cause once your lady catches you staring you got some explaining to do. My advice invest in a good pair of sunglasses or if you wear glasses get transition lens. Finally I would like to show some love to my Brazilian ladies by saying keep on being perfect 10's.

As a treat here are some rated G links.
1 Some Brazilian beauties.
2 A reason why we shouldn't insult fat women.

Who's to blame the rich or poor?

The social divide that exists will never cease to be because as a society we reinforce this norm . People argue that reason the rich are so powerful is because of the money they throw around that allows them to maintain a hierarchy. That may be so but originally certain powerful individuals had to work hard to get to where they are. There heirs of course expanded the fortunes that were originally made. Some of the rich do contribute their fortunes to charitable causes. Not every person with money is so charitable and some just covet power that leads for them to make laws that help them while it makes life harder for the rest of us.
Any individual who is not born with a golden rattle will have an uphill battle through out their life. No matter what path they choose it is only through hard work that you get to be someone. I am not saying every person but some have chosen to not work hard and relay on government handouts or sometimes procure wealth in less than reputable manners. I can't pass judgment since am not qualified to do so but do suggest that those who blame the rich must also look at their own actions and determine if their not just using the wealthy as scapegoats. What do we do to break down this societal norm? Honestly I have no answer all I can say is that by investing in education and health care can we hope to bridge some of the gaps that are present.

UPDATE

To my loyal readers BE patient I have exams so my next blog won't be out till late next week hopefully. Some in life have chosen to walk a righteous path while others have a darkness that surrounds them as they live their life. Should we judge people by a certain criteria that is supposed to be the right way? No we shouldn't as long as they don't cause any harm to anyone. Choices we make in life are not easy and sometimes we need a push to move along.

A small push in one direction can have consequences that we never expected. A decision that was made a long time ago could lead one to meet the most incredible person they have ever known. Unfortunately fate is a fickle mistress and the memories and a promise that was made are all that remain of better days. Sorrow and anger of not being able to have been there and some how have prevented the events of that day blind some but eventually they accept it and move on. There are of course a few who go down a different path and choose to bury what they once were. Days move on and become months and eventually years. In all that time they kept a promise they made while they project a face of what people expect them to be. Eventually though they wake up and decide that its time to slowly emerge and show their true self.

Deceptions and illusions have been their friend for so long that it's hard to put down the masks and truly be who they are. People notice the cracks in the masks and some of the changes they see taking place are seen as positive while others cause confusion which leads to fear A few don't understand that some masks were worn for their benefits because they needed you to be someone they could turn to. Unfortunately they still fail to realize that they have grown in that time you have known them and you're proud of who they have become. In time the final mask will fall and a brand new person will emerge will they still hold the same ideals and dreams, since they have already chosen to break a promise made long ago. Only time will tell.

Vita non est vivere sed valere vita est

We walk around with our eyes closed.

New York is a urban metropolis that is filled with people who rush from one end to the next. The only ones who actually take notice of our city are tourists. There an annoying bunch but are tolerated because they bring money which stimulates our economy. No am not going to bash tourists in this post instead we should take a page from them and actually enjoy the pleasures our city has. Some at this point will be like that's not true. when we have the time to we do take notice of the sights the city has. Repeatedly going to the same bar or cafe is not enjoying the city. Experiencing the different things each borough has to offer and being able to actually enjoy them. This whole realization came to me this morning when I randomly pointed my finger at a subway map and ended up in Brooklyn. Mind you I somehow ended up near prospect park and took in some of the local attractions. Yes I was disoriented for a bit because navigating the streets of Brooklyn are a hassle but you know the old saying it's not about how you get there but the journey you take and what you come out of it. So next time your bored or want some spontaneity just take the train and see where it takes you cause each of the five boroughs has hidden wonders.

Laughter really is the best medicine!

So am letting my brain simmer for a bit till then enjoy this partial list I posted about ex girlfriends. Its fine when your a kid but when your an older person it just looks foolish.

Using your cell phone loudly in a crowded bus or subway car. Nobody needs to know what you did this morning or hear a barge of profanity come out every other sentence.

Teenagers are a pain. Yes we where all teenagers at one point but I think every year they just get stupider and more obnoxious.

People who don't know how to drive. When your making a turn make sure you signal. Nobody want to hear you blasting out music from your car window.

Walking down a sidewalk and there's that one person who blocks you right in the middle. You have to slow down or find an alternate route to bypass them.

Waiting in line at a store or any other place and the person at the counter takes there sweet time. Meanwhile the person behind you is tailgating and you feel their breath on your neck.

Plastic bindings on objects that are a pain to get off.

Tourists who gawk at every little thing and ask you to take their picture even though its obvious that your in a rush.

Not being able to clean up after your pet. How hard is it to do this.

Hot chicks who think there all that and feel that the world should revolve around them. Get over yourselves in a couple of years your going to start getting wrinkles.

When ordering off a menu and being specific about what you want and the order totally coming back messed up. You could get it fixed but then there's the possibility of something being done to your food.

Social networking sites are great way to keep in touch but become a hassle after awhile when people get offended if you don't respond to every poke or message.

Where any type of food package that claims to have a specific amount is less than honest. It is either filled with air or you really get more packing then you really want.

Hanging out with friends and having that one person show up late and starts being loud and complains about the food and drinks and yet there always mooching off of everyone else.

Expecting something to be free but then you realize that there are certain restrictions that you most comply with before its actually free.

Holding the train doors for someone and holding up the train.

A person catches your line of sight and they then hope that they will be the ones who will make you break eye contact. The same applies to a blinking contest.

When you get a text from a person and respond back yet it takes them a long time to get back to you.

Baby strollers because the parents block the aisle or place the stroller in such a way that it's an inconvenience to everyone.

A person sitting too close to you even though plenty of empty seats are available and its just awkward when it happens.

Bumping into someone who you have not seen in ages and you can't remember their name. Yet they know yours and you have to keep the conversation going without mentioning their name.

It wasn’t beauty that killed the beast but Mindkilla

Mindkilla is an alternative hip hop artist that I stumbled across while surfing MySpace. The lyrics and beats where different then what I had I had listened to at the time. His previous album entitled Politicians dealt with the politics of the country under the Bush administration. The latest album Visionary is broader in scope and deals with a variety of topics that are affecting the general population of not only the U.S.A but the world as a whole. Each of the tracks in this album are distinct and you just can’t listen to a song once. You have to let them digest in your brain for a bit till you get a good feel for what each song brings to the table. I was able to get in contact with him and conduct the following interview. This is my first interview with a musical artist so bear with me and hopefully what follows isn’t a train wreck and does Mindkilla justice.

Ivan: What is your background?

Mindkilla: My background is that I represent all Puerto Ricans rapping in Queens New York all day and for all those Spanish artists out there starving because the labels aren’t giving us a chance to shine since Big Pun passed.

Ivan: Choosing a career as a hip-hop artist is no easy task so what drives you to write and record your lyrics?

Mindkilla: What drives me is the passion I have for the music. I've been listening to Hip Hop music my whole life. I started rapping in the 6th grade and I never stopped from there. My motivation is to always be the best the game has ever seen. If I'm not known as one of the best when it is all said and done then I failed.

Ivan: Who are your musical influences?

Mindkilla: My Musical Influences are Portishead, Gangstarr, Pj Harvey, Radiohead, and Wu Tang at their peak. There are also a whole bunch of other artists but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Ivan: What are your long-term career goals?

Mindkilla: My long term career goal is to have a record label that I run and release my own material and bring all the heads that I know. They deserve a chance with me to get theirs and shine, oh and maybe fix up congress if my past doesn't destroy that from happening.

Ivan: How does your creative process work do you come up with a beat first and then apply the lyrics or do you bust out some rhymes and then come up with the accompanying music? What about the titles to your tracks?

Mindkilla: My creative way of doing my albums comes both ways, sometimes I have a song idea and I write it and then pick the beat that goes with it. I also get beats from some of my producers and they spark something creative and I write a new song. It goes both ways like a bisexual. LOL. The titles to my tracks are secondary, sometimes I think of a title and write about the subject, other times I write the song and the title comes from within the song.

Ivan: Your single off this album if am not mistaken is Death Mobile you have other great songs my favorite being Posterize. Why this track and not another one?

Mindkilla: Well it's still early in the album lifespan so Posterize could be a single but the reason I picked Death Mobile is because it is flat out different than anything you will hear this year. I was able to grasp a visual by getting the hearse which also weighed heavily on my decision. There will be more singles to come besides the one on the site which is now called Triangle Of Terror.

Ivan: In some of your songs you reference yourself. Some could say that it’s too self promoting. What to do you say to those people?

Mindkilla: Hip Hop has always been a self promoting art. During the days when Hip Hop began it was all about having fun and battles because the music is so competitive, that's why you cannot go a year without some rappers having beef because it is so competitive. As long as the content stays on the record and we do not lose any more soldiers like Tupac and Biggie then its fine. The minute it goes overboard our music looks stale and people can then criticize but luckily I feel Hip Hop has learned its lesson from those 2 deaths. Am I to self promoting, maybe but it is nothing that has not been done from generation to generation.

Ivan: In the first few tracks it’s just you but later on you have other contributors in this album. Do you feel that having other contributors brings something more to the music that you’re putting out?

Mindkilla: I always love putting my people on to my projects because they are so talented. They all got skills and are easy to work with in the studio. Plus when I do a song with someone else the vibe is always there and it shows on the record that we record. I do not like to just hear myself throughout a whole album, I'm also a fan of the art and I always like to hear what my people come out with.

Ivan: The majority of the music in this album is clean but some of it does have profanity. Was this done intentionally?

Mindkilla: Hip Hop is the ultimate form of expression that is what makes it so great but that is also what gets us in trouble because we push freedom of speech to a whole new dimension. When I curse in my verses, I don’t just curse just to do it and say wait this verse needs a curse, shit damn motherfucker.LOL. It comes out because it was meant to be there, that is how I feel when I write the verse so it stays in the verse. I have calmed down on my profanity a lot. Though with my lyrics am aware that cursing does not make a song great it’s the content.

Ivan: Do you feel that that your music makes a difference in a world where everyone is trying to be the next Jay-Z or Eminem?

Mindkilla: I feel if everyone is trying to be the next Jay Z or Eminem then its done for the wrong reasons. They just want the power, the fame, the money and the success. I just want a shot to have my music heard and be mentioned with the greats. I mean it’s not how much money I made in my career but creating music that is timeless. Somebody could pick up one of my albums years from now and say man, Mindkilla was ill, I'm glad I got the chance to hear and appreciate his music.

Ivan: What’s the best thing about being an artist?

Mindkilla: The best thing about being an artist is when you perfected your craft and you’re satisfied with your flow and everyone around you believes you can make it. That is as satisfying as making it because everyone believes around you.

Ivan: Taking a look back at when you first started till the present do you feel that you are successful at being an artist?

Mindkilla: I feel I am successful at being an artist but like in the NBA or NFL, it doesn't mean a thing without the ring. If I never get signed or make it, I will always feel a void that was never filled.

Ivan: What is your favorite Song in general?

Mindkilla: I do not have a favorite song that would be an injustice to all the Artists that busted their ass throughout the years to put music on my walkman, iPod or iPhone.

Ivan: I found out that you filmed an independent project called Damn am an Idiot. What has been posted online so far is interesting. Do you want to branch out from your music career?

Mindkilla: Anything related to entertainment am willing to take a shot at. I have so many ideas but you need funding to make those ideas come to life and hopefully one day I get my chance.

Ivan: What is the number one thing you want people to get out of your music?

Mindkilla: The #1 thing I want people to say they get out of my music is that he gives it his all. When he dropped an album I could listen to the whole album without any songs skipping like old classic albums. I want people to feel when they spend money on a Mindkilla album they will hear something that they never heard before.

Ivan: Anything else that you would like to say about yourself or what your fans can expect of you in the future?

Mindkilla: I just want to tell all my fans to keep believing in me and keep believing in yourself and you can be anything you want to be in life. There is no timetable. Do not let people say your too old to do something. Your time is going to come trust me it does not matter your age or anything else, if it's meant to be it's meant to be. Always believe in yourself and always surround yourself with positivity. I will be touring Visionary over the next 2 years. It seems that as we get older more time is spent on mundane tasks and we rarely get a chance for ourselves. When we reach retirement age you would think it would be easier but it's not. So how do we get more time, the answer is simple time travel. You might have read, heard or watched a movie about time travel at some point in your life. This idea was once in the realm of science fiction but many scientists are taking the idea seriously. Time travel would not be a solution to every problem but if we could master it, we could extrapolate other ways to use it. Imagine creating a time bubble where time passes differently inside. You complete a task in about 8 hours inside and when your done you leave the bubble and find that only a hour passed outside.

Time travel would be awesome because you would be able to do learn so much about the past and get to see places that are only described in ancient history books. If I could travel I would go back to the days of Egypt and make copies of the scrolls found in the library of Alexandria. There are also a few other places where I would try to preserve knowledge. Knowledge has been lost over the centuries because a few individuals felt threatened by the capacity that learning has on people. This would be why I would time travel. I guess the rest of you reading this would probably go back to some point in your life and try to correct some mistake. Others might try to make money through future knowledge. Unfortunately while this is possible it may not make a difference in the long run because you might create an alternate fork in the time line and your actions may not affect your life but another version of yourself.

The last statement I made will be explained in full with the video I include at the end of this paragraph. Some questions do arise with the concept of time travel. How come we haven't met some traveler from the future already. Well maybe there are individuals who police travelers as they make their journeys. The more grim version could be that in the distant future we basically go to war and humanity does survive in some form but they would have to start from scratch. Lastly we could travel to the future but not the one that may actually be. Every action we take has repercussions so the future is in constant flux and again the future we visit may be some sort of parallel world.

The holidays where once about being with those we cherish.

Sitting in my cold apartment, tuned to Pandora I reflect upon the commercialization of Valentines day. Walk into any chain retail store and your bombarded with teddy bears, chocolate and discount cards. Do we really need all of these items to express how we feel about another person. No but we're expected to do so because its become en grained into us by greedy corporations who feed upon us year after year. I applaud that one guy who instead of following the norm does something unexpected for Valentines day. Yes it makes every other guy seem thoughtless but hey he's putting more effort into it. The thing though is that these same principles can be applied to almost any other holiday.

Christmas just passed about a month and half ago and I still hear people complaining about how they didn't get what they wanted. Christmas is supposed to be about togetherness and celebrating the birth of Jesus. Some of my readers aren't Christian and may either celebrate Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus. When the holiday season comes around again do me a favor and try to do more with less. Lucky for us commercialization has to yet ensnare certain times like Black history month or Hispanic heritage month. At this point some of you will think am bitter about the holidays but am not. Personally the holidays where spent with family and sometimes we observed the customs of the holiday in the best way we could.

This rant of mine makes me realize that the only decent holiday left is Independence Day. Every time when the fourth of July comes and when we set off fireworks we are reminded of the freedoms that our founding fathers had to fight for. Yet a part of me realizes that slowly this is changing as more of our freedoms are slowly being taken away from us this holiday will just be another day that we hope falls on a Friday so we can have a longer weekend. To those who have made it this far all I ask is one favor. Reflect upon the holiday that your observing and try to make it personal in some way that does not involve a purchase at a local convenience store.

If you don't settle down we're turning around and heading back home.

A few days ago I was sitting on the train and noticed two families that occupied a great section of the seats. What was fascinating was the ineptitude of the parents to keep there kids under control. One was hanging on the the bar grips like if he was at the jungle gym. The other one was throwing fries all over the floor. You're asking what the heck where the parents doing. The moms gossiped about the sex life of a friend they had, meanwhile the dads discussed the recent turn of events which prevented a certain team to head off to the Superbowl. These folks deserve the parenting awards of the year. Seriously!

I have no kids of my own but rest assured I would have ensured some sort of decorum out in the public. Many but not all children grow up without boundaries. The case usually being that one parent doesn't care and ends up undermining the other parent who does care. Extreme cases are those that are heard on the news where the parents are abusive. What should society do to ensure that kids are being brought up in a manner that will benefit them. The solution is simple have parents get a license.

Some of you at this point might call me a totalitarian. To those that do am just going to say one thing. We already have licenses for almost everything else. So why not children? Parents should be able to pass a mental and financial background check. Those that don't will you can always try later. Some of you reading this probably had to go to the DMV more than once to pass you're drivers test. There will be some who will ignore these proposed regulations and will continue to procreate. Simple solution the children of these parents become property of the state. They will be cared for and given schooling and be encouraged to take up some sort of government job. The parents of course will get sterilized. If you can't use a condom or take the pill then you deserve it. There may be a point where these unfit parents actually become worthy and thus they can adopt a child.

They called it summer love.

Love is one of the strongest emotions that can make people do just about anything with the other emotion being anger. Many have described love as being biological others say its spiritual. Not to get sentimental but I agree with the latter. We usually get childhood crushes on the cute girl or boy who sits in front of us our sometimes the teacher. These feelings are temporary and the real stuff comes when we enter junior high. Let me back track for a second and say that love must not be confused with lust which is a separate entity. There is a point where both become intertwined and it becomes a mess to sort out. Love is felt differently by every individual and yet the one thing that remains constant is the memories that are created. When we reflect upon them we nostalgically feel a rush of the love that was present when they where first formed. These memories can bring laughter and sadness.

There is a down side to being in love and that is that most of us think where in love when honestly where more enamored with the idea of being in love. All couples have fights but at some point a light bulb goes off in our heads and where like I never loved this person and am with them for selfish reasons. This may sound harsh but it's true. Sadly the worst part is when a couple decides to have children to see if that might fix the situation. True love (soul mates) is hard to describe because its dependent on the individual. True love as I see it isn't perfect your gonna have arguments and your not gonna have a hundred percent compatibility with interests that either partner has but things work themselves out. It's about going above and beyond for that one person and also expecting your partner to do the same when the need arises.

Someone I once knew described love as a poison that infected both parties till one was given the antidote and was able to move on. I think my friend was a little bitter about a past relationships and betrayals that he may have endured but then again we all feel that way at some point in our lives. Love moves in mysterious ways and yet we must ask ourselves are we still capable of feeling love the way we envision it. Statistically speaking most marriages end in divorce. Yet what drives us to find that special someone is when we hear stories of couples who have been together forever and when one partner dies the other losses the will to live on. That is, ethnic groups, including "races," derive from contrasts perceived and perpetuated in particular societies, rather than from scientific classifications based on common genes"(Wade 2000). Keeping this all in mind we identify with one of the classifications that are given as Asian, Black, Hispanic, White or Other. Personally I fit in the Other category and will relate some of my own experiences before I get into general observations. In my early school years the neighborhood I lived in was mostly white and the classes I attended had the token black kid, the smart Asian kids and one or two Hispanics kids who could pass off as white. During lunch breaks we would all break off into different groups and I would usually shift from one group to the other and I remember how each group treated one another differently and at that age our preconceived notions about race had already been established. As the years passed the neighborhood changed and I figured that all those engrained notions would shift but they didn’t. The Hispanic students would be bias against the darker skinned ones or if they didn’t come from the same country and the same principle applies to the Asian or Black students. I want all of you to take a minute or two and think back and you will see that you probably observed this but didn’t really think much about it.

The media and society are partly to blame but so are families. Within our own families we all have that one person be it mother, uncle, aunt or etc who always says something derogatory against a specific ethnicity or race. We all listen to these comments and some of us try to be different but where not. You get on a train are you really going to sit next to the group of people who are different from you or will you sit next to one person who most resembles you or seems less threatening but yet could be more dangerous that those we just judged. The harsh reality is that sometimes the comments we hear are true but only to a certain extent. Are all Asian people really smart of course not but the majority are so the stereotype is built up and those that aren’t will they get judged themselves by the smart ones. Do all Hispanic people go on welfare no but some do and they do it on purpose and thus we judge an entire race or group based on the actions of a few select individual within that population. You might be wondering what I believe in and here’s my view. I try to not judge people based on what they look like or where they come from but on the actions they take against me personally.

Tragedy

<img  ="" alt="Haiti Struggles For Aid And Survival After Earthquake" border="0" height="333" src="http://cdn.picapp.com/ftp/Images/4/e/e/c/Haiti_Struggles_For_0191.jpg?adImageId=9409248&imageId=7626412" width="500" />
Its been over two weeks since the earthquake devastated Haiti. In that time much Aid has been sent to this poor nation. Personally I feel that we should all be able to contribute any amount of money to ease the pain that the Haitian people will have to deal with in the years ahead. No pressure should be felt by those who donate especially when going to stores or when passing by people asking for donations on the streets.

There has also been controversy over this earthquake and that it was due to God abandoning this nation as expressed by Reverend Pat Robertson on the 700 club. We are all entitled to freedom of speech but come on what was Robertson thinking his words of course are his alone and evangelicals should not be judged because of him. Haiti is deeply religious and a great majority of the people are Catholic and following the initial hours of the earthquake makeshift churches where put up.

Much of the relief aid that has been sent to this island nation has to still reach the survivors in the interior. The supplies mostly have been deposited in the coastal areas so far with some reaching the interior .I will critique the assistance of other governments in saying that much has still to be done in ensuring the safety of the survivors from those who would turn a tragedy into an opportunity to make a profit. Officially the government of Haiti has called off the search for any more survivors as grim as it may sound the harsh reality does set in that those who could have been rescued where not reached in time.

In time the people of Haiti will overcome all that has befallen them. Some argue that it is our duty as Americans to help rebuild others say that it should be a world wide effort. What most fail to realize is that while these debates go on the struggle will continue for the Haitians as long as the original problems that they had are not first resolved.<strike><strike></strike></strike>

A beginning of sorts.

Well this is my first blog in a long time it is entitled Truth of the Wolf in Latin. I wanted something eccentric for a title so that's what I came up with. Lets see most of the stuff that I will post will deal with a variety of things that I feel warrant some sort of discussion. It will be updated when I have time between dealing with classes, work and other things that keep me occupied. Anything you read may at times be paradoxical and you may not agree with me and that's fine this blog is a way for me explore issues and ask questions any negative or positive comments are appreciated. Finally as I familiarize myself with the potential options that this blog has I may start posting links, pictures and etc.
